Cub Scouts Pack 0131

The mission of Scouts BSA is simple: to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law, and this begins in Cub Scouts. We pursue this mission through citizenship, character, personal fitness, and leadership.

Cub Scouts participate in age-based ranks (Lion, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos, & AoL) to complete milestones and earn belt loops or other awards/badges while learning valuable lessons and having fun with their Dens.

Pack 131 Schedule

We meet Monday evenings from 6-7 pm. Our monthly meetings are structured in the following schedule:

  • 1st Monday: Committee Meeting
  • 2nd Monday: Den Meeting
  • 3rd Monday: Den Meeting
  • 4th Monday: Pack Meeting

Sometimes Dens will meet elsewhere for events (hikes, visits, etc.). These will be coordinated via their Den Leaders and the parents ahead of time. If your Scout misses a meeting, that’s o.k. We aren’t the only extra-curricular activity going on, and we will catch them up. It is a Scouting America requirement that all K-1st graders (Lions and Tigers) be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all Scout functions, to include Den & Pack meetings. We encourage parents to participate directly with their Scout during Den/Pack activities.

The Pack Committee is comprised of registered leaders and committee members. Non-registered parents are encouraged to attend and provide input, but only registered members may vote on committee items. There are no youth activities during committee meetings.

Sometimes Life Happens

Whether it is a busy sports regimen, an unforeseen illness, or simple work/life overwhelm, life does sometimes disrupt our best laid plans. Do not be discouraged if you think your Scout may miss too many meetings due to an active sports schedule. Our den leaders will communicate with you to ensure your Scout can get caught up, whether they do activities with us or at home. And if your Scout has some rambunctious younger siblings that is o.k. too. Childcare is expensive and not always available – bring them with you! We are all parents and/or grandparents and understand the demands younger children place on parents who are trying to be there for one but have to juggle many. This is a judgement free zone, and we will do whatever we can to support our Scouting family.

Pack 131 Calendar

Activities for Pack 131 are noted in Blue. Tecumseh Council-sponsored items are highlighted in Purple. Troop 311/113 activities are highlighted in Orange.

Items on the calendar are current unless or until otherwise noted via group text and/or email.

Cub Scout Uniforms

Uniforms are an integral part of Scouting, serving as a symbol of pride, commitment, unity, and identity within the Pack. Cub Scouts in grades K-4 wear the blue, class-A shirt, while AoL’s (5th) wear the tan class-A shirt. These can be purchased at the Scout Store, which has relocated to the Turner (A-frame) building in the Camp Birch parking lot. We also have class-B Pack t-shirts which serve as an alternate uniform, particularly for active or less formal meetings and events. These shirts are purchased periodically in bulk orders from local vendors like MacRay.

As a Cub Scout, your child will progresses towards a badge of rank based on their grade. They need not have earned the previous rank in order to earn the next. To earn each badge of rank a Cub Scout earns the six required Adventures and at least two elective Adventures. Required Adventures are based on the aims and areas of importance in Scouting. Each badge of rank is age-appropriate, so earning a rank below a Cub Scout’s current grade is not permitted.
